Some love stories don’t need a grand ballroom or a hundred guests. Some love stories just need the water, the sky, and the right moment — and that’s exactly what Raizel and Nels gave us on February 6th, 2026, when I had the honor of being their Lake Havasu wedding photographer.
I had the privilege of photographing their intimate Hawaiian-themed wedding at the Nautical Beach Resort in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and I’m still thinking about how the light fell across the lake that evening. As a Lake Havasu wedding photographer, I’ve witnessed a lot of beautiful moments — but this one? This one was something else entirely.
Aloha on the Arizona Shoreline
When Raizel and Nels told me they wanted a Hawaiian wedding overlooking Lake Havasu, I knew we were in for something truly special. The Nautical Beach Resort set the perfect stage — its waterfront views, open skies, and natural desert beauty made it feel like a little slice of the islands, right here in Arizona.
Raizel wore a flowing, dreamy gown with delicate ruffled layers that moved with the breeze off the lake. Bird of paradise blooms and white flowers were tucked into her hair — effortlessly tropical and breathtakingly beautiful. Nels was relaxed and warm in a crisp white shirt, adorned with a lush green and white lei that draped around them both.
The leis they exchanged weren’t just décor — they were a symbol. A quiet, meaningful tradition woven into every embrace, every glance, every quiet moment between two people who have chosen each other.
The Light. Oh, the Light.
This is what Lake Havasu wedding photography is all about for me — not just the grand moments, but the quiet ones in between.
If you’ve ever watched the sun set over Lake Havasu, you already know. But watching it set on a wedding day — with two people holding each other at the water’s edge — that’s a different kind of magic altogether.
As the sky turned from gold to amber to the softest blush, Raizel and Nels stood together overlooking the lake, her tropical bouquet of gerbera daisies, white blooms, and greenery held close. The mountains in the distance, the still water below, the last light of the day wrapping around them — I don’t just photograph how it looked. I photograph how it felt.

And it felt like peace. Like arriving somewhere you’ve always been headed.
Even as the sky deepened into twilight, we kept shooting — because the magic didn’t stop when the sun dipped below the horizon. The soft afterglow painted everything in the most tender, cinematic light, and Raizel and Nels leaned into each other in the most natural, unhurried way.
This is the kind of image I live for. No posing, no performance — just two people, completely at ease with one another, letting the moment breathe.
